YOUNG Zimbabwean cricketers have been given a development opportunity after being named in the Zimbabwe A squad for this month’s tour of Bangladesh.
Zimbabwe Cricket has selected a balanced mix of established international players and emerging talent for the tour, which features three one-day matches and two four-day fixtures against Bangladesh A.
The touring party includes experienced names such as Ryan Burl, Innocent Kaia, Wessly Madhevere, Vincent Masekesa and Tadiwanashe Marumani.
All have featured for the senior national team and are expected to use the tour to gain valuable match exposure and strengthen their claims for regular selection.
Promising youngsters Matthew Campbell, Antum Naqvi, Ernest Masuku and Michael Frost have also been included in the squad.
In a rotational approach, Innocent Kaia, Roy Kaia, Marumani and Madhevere will take part in the one-day series before making way for Tanunurwa Makoni, Dion Myers, Munashe Chimusoro and Johnathan Campbell for the four-day matches.
The tour will begin with the one-day fixtures before shifting to the longer format, with the four-day matches scheduled at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Zimbabwe Cricket says the tour will provide valuable exposure to challenging sub-continental conditions and high-level competition.
The Zimbabwe A setup has traditionally served as a key pathway between domestic and international cricket, offering players a platform to develop before progressing to the senior national team.
