ZIMBABWE’S Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Kufa Chinoza, hosted Team Zimbabwe following their historic performance at the African Senior Athletics Championships in Accra, where they clinched four medals.
The ambassador hailed the athletes for flying the Zimbabwean flag high in one of the country’s most successful continental athletics campaigns.
Zimbabwe struck gold in the men’s 4×400 metres relay through the quartet of Thandazani Ndhlovu, Gerren Muwishi, Leeford Zuze and Dennis Hove.
Hove also scooped silver in the 400 metres dash, while Ashley Miller Kamangirira claimed silver in the 400 metres hurdles.
Leeford Zuze added a bronze medal in the 400 metre dash as Team Zimbabwe capped off a memorable campaign in Ghana.
The team is expected in Harare at midday.
Sprinter Methembe Tshuma underwent successful surgery in Accra after suffering a fractured femur during the African Senior Athletics Championships.
Tshuma is expected to remain in Accra for a few more days under medical observation before returning home.
