FORMER champions Simba Bhora will be aiming to derail CAPS United’s march at the top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League when the two sides clash at Wadzanayi Stadium this Saturday.
The Matchday 13 encounter headlines a packed weekend programme, with Simba Bhora looking to bounce back from their midweek defeat to Chicken Inn.
Simba Bhora coach Mandla Mpofu believes his side must respond quickly and make home advantage count.
“All games are difficult this season and getting three points is gold. CAPS United are on top, but this is a fixture we need to play well and get maximum points, especially at home, which is our fortress,” he said.
League leaders CAPS United head into the match after a demanding run of fixtures, with teams having played three matches in seven days.
Coach Takesure Chiragwi admitted the congested schedule is beginning to affect players physically.
“We knew it was going to be a difficult game after the match we played, where the players had to use a lot of energy. It was a high-intensity game and now we go again to another tough match,” he said.
Matchday 13 action opens with league newcomers FC Hunters taking on fellow debutants AGAMA at The Heart Stadium.
FC Platinum host Chicken Inn at Mandava Stadium, while TelOne face Manica Diamonds at Ascot Stadium.
Bulawayo Chiefs welcome wounded Hardrock at Barbourfields Stadium, while Scottland entertain ZPC Kariba at Rufaro Stadium.
Sunday fixtures will see Highlanders host unbeaten Ngezi Platinum Stars at Barbourfields Stadium.
Dynamos take on Triangle United at Rufaro Stadium, while MWOS host Herentals College at Ngoni Stadium.
