THREE High Court judges have been sworn in at the Constitutional Court ahead of their expected deployment to Kwekwe.
The Honourable Chief Justice Luke Malaba, this Monday, swore in Justice Custom Kachambwa, Justice Doreen Hove, and Justice Lawrence Masimba Murasi at the Constitutional Court in Harare.
According to the Judicial Service Commission, the three judges are expected to be deployed to Kwekwe, where a new High Court is set to be commissioned as part of Government’s expanded access to justice.
“You would recall that during the opening of the 2026 legal year, the Chief Justice mentioned that a new High Court will be opened in Kwekwe and these three are expected to be deployed there because we are trying to decentralise access to justice in line with the government’s agenda,” Secretary Judicial Service Commission Dr Walter Chikwana said.
The new High Court judges, who are all coming from the Labour Court, pledged to work tirelessly to deliver justice to the people.
“I am so thankful, and I promise to deliver justice in a fair and transparent manner,” High Court Judge Justice Custom Kachambwa said.
“I joined the JSC around 1994, and since then we have worked hard to deliver, and so this promotion is very special to me, and I thank the President,” High Court Judge Justice Doreen Hove said.
“I wish to extend my gratitude to President Mnangagwa and the JSC, and I commit to ensuring that as I sit on the bench, anyone who comes to my courtroom will be dealt with justly,” High Court Judge Justice Lawrence Masimba Murasi said.
The Decentralisation Agenda has significantly improved access to justice in several ways, and by holding judicial proceedings in various regions, people no longer need to travel long distances to the capital for legal matters.
