PRESIDENT Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa has called for sustained development across Africa, stating that the continent’s growth agenda must remain a continuous and collective priority.

The President made the remarks as he departed Manzini after attending the 40th anniversary celebrations of King Mswati III’s reign.

Held at Somhlolo Stadium, the commemorations brought together several African leaders, including President Duma Boko of Botswana, President Daniel Chapo of Mozambique, and King Letsie III of Lesotho.
The event also coincided with King Mswati III’s 58th birthday and celebrated four decades of his leadership.

During the ceremony, King Mswati III outlined key development milestones and national projects implemented during his reign, highlighting progress in infrastructure, social services, and economic development.

Speaking before his departure, President Mnangagwa said development is an ongoing process that requires unwavering commitment from African nations.

He emphasised the importance of maintaining momentum in driving economic growth, modernisation, and improved livelihoods across the continent.

President Mnangagwa also said Zimbabwe was honoured to be part of the celebrations, describing the invitation as a reflection of the longstanding and cordial relations between Harare and Mbabane.

The visit further reaffirmed the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between Zimbabwe and Eswatini, as well as the shared commitment among African nations to deepen regional solidarity and advance sustainable development.
