Construction of Ndambe Clinic begins as government avails land and materials

GOVERNMENT has availed land and key building materials for the construction of Ndambe Clinic in Beitbridge West, in a move aimed at strengthening people-centred healthcare delivery and reducing distances travelled by rural communities to access medical services.
The development comes as the Second Republic continues to roll out infrastructure projects designed to bring essential services closer to citizens, particularly in remote areas.
Community members in Ndambe welcomed the project, saying the clinic will significantly ease the burden of travelling long distances to Masera Clinic, which is about 15 kilometres away.
“Government has really helped us through this clinic project. We will try to put our efforts together to complete it because, so far, we have been using Masera Clinic, which is very far, especially for our wives. We are very grateful to the government for this project, and as youths, we will do everything we can to assist,” said one beneficiary.
Another community member said Government has already provided critical inputs to kick-start construction.
“Government has provided land, cement, riversand and bricks. All that remains now is to start the actual construction of the clinic,” another community member added.
Local leaders said the clinic will play a vital role in improving access to healthcare services and supporting universal health coverage.
“We welcome such a developmental project. As a community, we will join hands to make this project a success so that even our elderly can access healthcare services nearby,” said Miss Rael Velemu, Chairperson of the Ndambe Clinic Construction Committee.
Ndambe Village Head, Mr Aaron Mbedzi, said the clinic will address long-standing challenges faced by villagers.
“For us, this clinic will be of great help because currently, when someone falls ill, we face many challenges due to the distance to the nearest facility. Once this clinic is complete, it will greatly ease our health burdens,” Mr Mbedzi said.
Beitbridge West Legislator, Honourable Thusani Ndou, urged the community to work collectively to ensure the timely completion of the facility.
“Government has availed land to construct Ndambe Clinic, which will help this community that previously travelled about 15 kilometres to Masera Clinic. We are working closely with the community, which is why you see more than 25 000 bricks, including cement bags, ready for construction. I encourage local residents to join forces so that the clinic is completed on time,” said Beitbridge West Legislator, Honourable Thusani Ndou.
The construction of Ndambe Clinic aligns with the implementation of National Development Strategy Two (NDS2), which seeks to consolidate gains achieved under NDS1 while expanding access to quality social services across the country.
