Nyabane Clinic commissioned in Bulilima, expanding local healthcare access

Story by Providence Maraneli

NYABANE Clinic in Bulilima District, Matabeleland South, has been officially commissioned by Vice President Colonel (Rtd) Dr Kembo Mohadi, providing local communities with modern healthcare services and reducing the distance residents must travel for medical attention.

The commissioning of Nyabane Clinic is part of a broader effort to expand health infrastructure across the district. In the past three years, Bulilima has seen four clinics commissioned, with an additional four nearing completion.

Nyabane Clinic has been equipped with modern medical facilities through a collaborative effort between the Government of Zimbabwe, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and the diaspora community.

Community members welcomed the new facility, highlighting its practical impact.

“We used to have children named after rivers and hills became they were born on the way to the clinic but now we have been relieved.

“We are happy that we can just walk into the clinic.

“This is commendable for us as village health workers it has made our jobs easier,” community members stated.

The construction of this clinic speaks to government’s thrust of reducing the distances travelled by communities to seek medical care .

“As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we covenant to care for all of God’s children around the world. Our goal is to nurture children through healthcare so they can reach their full potential,” the church members said.

The Church seeks to reduce infant and maternal mortality rates by prioritising access to quality healthcare for women and children.

Vice President Mohadi who commissioned the clinic reaffirmed government’s commitment to improving the healthcare system as the country pursues an upper middle-income society by 2030.

“Nyabane Clinic will serve as a beacon of hope for our community, providing essential primary healthcare services and ensuring that every individual has access to the health care they deserve,” Dr Mohadi said.

It is not just a building, but it is a sanctuary where lives will be saved, health will be nurtured, and futures will be built. The Government of Zimbabwe’s thrust of “leaving no-one and no place behind,” is hereby being fulfilled.

As we look into the future, let this clinic be a symbol of what we can achieve together. It embodies our collective efforts towards realizing Vision 2030 and fulfilling the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS 1) objectives which has come to an end as we embark on the NDS2 beginning of 2026 up to 2030.

Together, we are laying the foundation for a healthier, more prosperous nation, enhancing the quality of life for all our citizens.

Through the Constituency Development Fund, development partners, and the diaspora, Bulilima has constructed Temateme, Malalume, Bambadzi, Gambu, Ngwana, Gwambe, Diba, Mambo and Somnene clinics as the nation surges towards a healthy and empowered upper-middle-income society by 2030.
