OVER 2 000 youths from Shurugwi North Constituency have participated in a youth Indaba aimed at boosting skills, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement in line with Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030.
The event, held at Tongogara High School on Sunday, brought together young people, government representatives, and development agencies to explore opportunities for economic participation and social empowerment.
“We are grateful to our leadership for coming up with this initiative because it has empowered us in a way that we did not anticipate. This will remove us from the streets as it will fight the rise of drugs and substance abuse,” a beneficiary said.
“I am excited about the opportunities that the Second Republic has made available. It is truly remarkable to witness young individuals, both male and female, actively participating in the development of this constituency,” another noted.
“This project will not only empower us as women, but will play a key role in achieving Vision 2030, and we are happy to play a part in it,” another echoed.
The ZANU PF party leadership in Shurugwi district concurred that the initiative will play a key role in reducing donor reliance among youths.
“We came up with this initiative so that we remove the donor reliance syndrome amongst these youths. We want the youths from Shurugwi to be active participants in the economic growth of this lovely district. I think Vision 2030 is on course,” Shurugwi North Constituency Legislator, Honourable Joseph Mpasi said.
“We want focused youths who are disciplined. So with this Indaba, we are producing youths who are hardworking and who can develop their areas. As the leadership of this district, we have rolled out various empowerment programmes, and we will continue to do so,” Shurugwi District Coordinating Committee Chairperson, Cde Shepherd Mudhara stated.
The programme forms part of broader government and ZANU PF-led social initiatives to enhance livelihoods, support climate resilience, and empower communities across the country.
