Beitbridge schools benefit from transformative government projects

COMMUNITIES in Beitbridge are set to benefit from new educational infrastructure as the Government and its development partners continue expanding access to safe and modern learning environments in rural areas.

Fula and Chasvingo Primary Schools have received a package of facilities that include solar-powered piped water systems, improved sanitation through flash toilets, and four new classroom blocks — one at Fula and three at Chasvingo.

Learners say the upgrades are already making a difference.

“We thank the government together with World Vision for building friendly infrastructure for us,” a pupil said.

The local leadership is appreciative of the transformative project.

“The infrastructure will confidently improve our pass rate because it is conducive for our learners,” Beitbridge District Schools Inspector, Mr Mbofhololo Muleya said.

“This is a major boost to our infrastructure as the Rural District Council and we appreciate such a transformative project. Such developments are important in the community because they change lives,” Beitbridge Rural District Council’s Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Kiliboni Mbedzi said.

“Our goal as we partner with the government is to bring urban standards to rural schools, closing the gap between,” World Vision, Acting Regional Manager-Southern Region, Mrs Pretty Dube noted.

The government says the development is in line with making sure that everyone has equitable and quality access to education.

“Education is the cornerstone of every development. The government will continue devolving development in all corners of the country, leaving no one and no place behind,” Matabeleland South Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Albert Nguluvhe stated.

The initiative supports the national education policy that no child should walk more than five kilometres to school.
