Neuso High School’s new boarding facilities set to transform rural education in Sanyati

THE Sanyati community is set to benefit from significant improvements in education provision following the completion of new boarding facilities at Neuso High School. The development is part of a broader plan to upgrade the school into a fully functional boarding institution by January next year.

The project spearheaded by local enterprise, DCK Group of Companies, demonstrates collaboration between government, the private sector, and local communities. The initiative aligns with national priorities, including President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s development agenda and the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2), which emphasises human capital development, modern infrastructure, and equitable access to quality education.

“As parents in Sanyati, we have always wanted our children to have the same opportunities as those in the cities. These boarding facilities mean our children will no longer walk long distances, sometimes up to 10 or 12 kilometres. With a stable place to stay, they can now study safely at night and access resources they never had. Especially for those taking sciences, this is a big relief,” said a parent.

“For us as traditional leaders, this development transforms the whole Sanyati community. A school is the centre of progress, and when it grows, the whole area grows with it. We expect improved pass rates, increased enrolment, and better discipline because learners will be in a supervised environment. This is the kind of development we have been waiting for, this school is becoming a pillar of our district,” a traditional leader from the area added.

The project demonstrates the impact of collaboration between government, the private sector, and local communities.

“Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo. As DCK, we are proud to deliver a modern facility right here in rural Sanyati. We used local labour, local materials where possible, and ensured that the project benefited the community even during construction. This school is proof that development does not only happen in cities, it starts where the people are. We built with the future of these children in mind,” said DCK Group of Companies CEO, Mr Patrick Chikosha.

Commissioning the facility, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Dr Torerai Moyo, said upgrading rural learning institutions remains a key government priority.

“We commend DCK and the entire Sanyati community for partnering with government on this project. Upgrading rural schools like Neuso High is fully aligned with our national strategic direction. Under President Mnangagwa’s leadership, we are focused on ensuring that development is felt in every part of the country, not just in urban centres,” he said.

He added that the initiative supports the pillars of the National Development Strategy, particularly NDS2, which emphasises human capital development, modern infrastructure, and equitable access to quality education.

With the countdown now underway, Neuso High School is preparing to usher in a new era, one that expands access to education and strengthens the nation’s drive towards science-based learning
