Zimbabwean beauty queen champions education and social change through community initiative

Story by ZBC Reporter
AT just 20 years old, Skhululekile Tsitsi Mupemhi, the reigning Miss/Mrs Africa Ireland 2025, is proving that true beauty lies in purpose, compassion, and action. Representing Zimbabwe with pride, she has turned her platform into a powerful vehicle for change, using it to advance education and empowerment for underprivileged children back home.
Driven by a deep sense of social responsibility, Mupemhi is the founder of Bridge to Empowerment, a community-based initiative aimed at improving access to education for disadvantaged learners in Zimbabwe. Her mission is simple but transformative to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to learn, dream, and succeed.
“Education is the foundation of a brighter future, and every child deserves an equal opportunity to learn and succeed, regardless of their circumstances,” said Mupemhi. “
Through Bridge to Empowerment, I aim to build bridges of opportunity that connect dreams to achievement.”
The initiative provides school fees, uniforms, and stationery to vulnerable children who would otherwise struggle to remain in school. Beyond financial assistance, it also nurtures creativity and confidence through its Monthly Poetry Competition, one of the flagship programmes under Bridge to Empowerment.
The organisation partnered with Belmont Primary School under the theme “My Voice Matters,” giving ten talented learners a platform to express themselves through poetry. The competition not only promoted literacy and self-expression but also celebrated the power of young voices in shaping the future.
The winners were awarded a full year of paid school fees, complete school uniforms, and stationery for all contestants, a gesture that went beyond material support to inspire hope and confidence.
“This initiative is about more than just prizes, it’s about giving hope, inspiring confidence, and reminding every child that their voice and dreams matter,” Mupemhi said.
Her vision for Bridge to Empowerment is long-term and rooted in sustainability. She aims to expand its reach to rural and marginalised communities, helping young people recognise their potential and equipping them with the tools to realise it.
Through her advocacy, Mupemhi joins a growing movement of young African women redefining leadership, using their influence to drive social transformation and empower the next generation.
As she continues her reign as Miss/Mrs Africa Ireland 2025, Mupemhi’s message remains clear: empowerment begins with education, and collective effort can transform lives.
“Education transforms lives,” she said.
“Through this mission, I hope to inspire others to take action, give back, and make a difference within their own communities. Bridge to Empowerment Together, We Rise.”
