THE Mhondoro community has commended the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) for taking its radio services to the people through an outreach programme that connects broadcasters and listeners.

In a spirited initiative to take radio to the people, ZBC Radio Services descended on Mhondoro-Mubaira this Wednesday, connecting the national broadcaster directly with its listeners.

“It is a rare opportunity and an amazing atmosphere to see them here in our area. We always hear their voices on radio, but today we are meeting them in person. This testifies to the government’s mantra of leaving no one and no place behind,” a listener said.

“This initiative brings us closer to the people who inform and entertain us daily. We hope ZBC continues doing this across the country,” another weighed in.

Presenters from ZBC’s Khulumani FM and Central Radio, say they are learning from their established ZBC stations, an experience they describe as both empowering and inspiring.

“We are gaining valuable experience from our colleagues at the older ZBC stations. It is exciting to see how they interact with listeners face-to-face and how community engagement strengthens our content,” Central Radio presenter, Vulindlela Sithole noted.

“Radio is evolving, and being part of these outreach programmes helps us understand what the listener really wants. It is about bringing relevance, entertainment, and education to the people,” Central FM presenter, Nesisa Ndlovu added.

ZBC Radio Services Director Mr Albert Chekayi expressed satisfaction with the countrywide response to the “Radio to the People” initiative, which continues to draw large crowds wherever it goes.

“We are thrilled by the overwhelming response from communities like Mhondoro. This initiative shows the power of radio in uniting people and bringing development conversations to their doorsteps. As ZBC, we are not only bridging listeners with service providers, but also building a sustainable model that generates revenue while fulfilling our mandate to educate, entertain, and inform,” he said.

ZBC continues to stand tall as the nation’s radio services hub, entertaining, educating and informing Zimbabweans from every corner of the country.
