Zimbabwe-Egypt to strengthen public broadcasting and key sector cooperation

EGYPT has outlined plans to expand cooperation with Zimbabwe to build capacity and training within public broadcasting institutions, among other key areas.

A conversation pledging commitment to expand cooperation between Egypt and Zimbabwe, Egyptian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Her Excellency Salwa Mowafi explained the scope of working areas between the two countries during a meeting with the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr Jenfan Muswere, in Harare this Thursday.

The meeting established various areas of cooperation between Egypt and Zimbabwe as the two nations seek to deepen existing bilateral ties.

“The Egyptian government recently unveiled a new modern city and we are working on how best we can share experiences in terms of health and child care, tourism, where the Egyptian government has taken a lead role. At the same time, sharing more experiences in agriculture, water reticulation and purification. These are part of the areas that we want to work together. We also seek to deepen political, economic and technical cooperation in infrastructure, housing, health, agriculture, tourism and modernisation of our public broadcasting institutions,” Dr Muswere said.

The Egyptian Envoy noted impressive strides in cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the pharmaceuticals sub-sector.

“Zimbabwe is our sister and Egypt would like to cooperate with Zimbabwe in many fields of development. We spoke about how to cooperate between the two countries’ media institutions and especially in the field of capacity building and training and of course, I expressed our long-standing position of the Egyptian government that Egypt will continue to be committed to deepening the relations between the two countries,” she noted.

Egypt and Zimbabwe share deep bilateral ties and have cooperated in various sectors including health, education and communication.
