GOVERNMENT is strengthening the devolution drive through enhanced knowledge building among key stakeholders, including the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
Addressing a group of police superintendents at Mkushi Police Academy in Harare this Friday, Permanent Secretary for Presidential Affairs and Devolution, Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti, stressed the critical role of law enforcement in promoting transparency, accountability, and local responsiveness under the national devolution agenda.
“There are trends of commercial crime that is happening. Let us be alive to what is happening across business that are conducting money laundering, but this is being done so discreetly and under the guise of legitimate business,” he said.
The lecture focused on enhancing capacity among law enforcement leaders to align policing duties with the principles of devolution, which is key to inclusive governance and development.
“You are now part of the devolution. As you go out, always remember that devolution is a national vision,” Engineer Muguti said.
As Zimbabwe works toward becoming an upper middle-income society by 2030, the government says knowledge sharing and stakeholder collaboration are essential to ensure all sectors understand and implement the Devolution Policy effectively.
With the security sector playing a pivotal role in national development, initiatives like these seek to build a foundation of shared responsibility, transparency, and community-driven service delivery under devolution.
