KADOMA- A teenage girl from Kadoma was convicted of filing a false rape report against a man who had confronted her for attempting to steal from him.
The court heard that the girl made the false allegation after the man assaulted her during the altercation.
She later confessed to fabricating the report and was charged with supplying false information to a public authority.
Initially sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, the court exercised leniency considering her age and circumstances.
The sentence was set aside on condition she performs 140 hours of community service.
Magistrates warned against the dangers of false accusations, stressing that such acts undermine genuine victims of crime and waste judicial resources.
