GOKWE’S Cheziya High School student Allen Tungamira hoisted the national flag high after coming third in the Africa Schools International Chess championships held in Mombasa, Kenya.
Tungamira came third after South Africa’s Soojay Jorah had scooped gold while fellow countryman Yan Wellum settled for silver.
Zimbabwe sent a contingent of 14 chess players and Tungamira’s performance was the highest while two more narrowly missed podium positions settling for fourth and fifth places.
