EGYPT aims to reduce its customs clearance time to just two days by the end of 2025, according to newly appointed Head of the Egyptian Customs Authority, Ahmed Amawi. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.
Amawi stated that this initiative forms part of a broader national strategy to streamline logistics, enhance supply chain efficiency, and boost Egypt’s international competitiveness.
“We are committed to achieving this target together. Reducing clearance times will directly lower production costs and enhance Egypt’s competitiveness,” Ahmed Amawi stated.
These projects aim to foster greater trust with the business community and attract investment by simplifying procedures.
Amawi emphasised that achieving the two-day target requires full digital transformation across all customs procedures, accelerated implementation at the operational level, and seamless integration of data systems among relevant agencies.
He also reaffirmed the Customs Authority’s role in creating a more investor-friendly environment through high-quality service provision, simplified processes, and smoother trade facilitation.
The reforms are expected to significantly enhance trade flows, encourage foreign investment, and contribute to Egypt’s long-term economic growth, the source
