THE ruling ZANU PF party has expressed confidence in reclaiming the Gutu East Parliamentary seat in the upcoming by-election, citing development achievements by the Second Republic across various communities.

Following the declaration of a vacancy in Gutu East Constituency by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the party officially launched its campaign at Muchekayaora Business Centre over the weekend.

ZANU PF’s campaign is anchored on party unity and its commitment to uplifting communities through ongoing national development initiatives.

“The ZANU PF party is known as a party of order, and we do not hesitate to maintain discipline within the party hence we are now having by-elections here in Gutu East,” ZANU PF National Political Commissar, Cde Munyaradzi Machacha said.

“We remain one united force that is committed to seeing improved livelihoods in communities hence we are confident that the people of Gutu East are going to vote for development, unity and peace.

“Our President has been at the forefront in implementing projects in communities and we continue to call upon the people of Gutu East to take advantage of those developments to improve their livelihoods.”

The provincial leadership is upbeat about retaining the Gutu East Parliamentary seat, with the government pledging to continue implementing development programmes in the area.

“Gutu East by-election is going to be a confirmation of how the people of Masvingo and Gutu East support President Mnangagwa and his vision of ensuring a middle-income economy by the year 2030. The people of Masvingo are united and we continue to encourage that unity of purpose to prevail until the by-elections are over,” ZANU PF Politburo member, Cde Lovemore Matuke said.

“As a province, we are very confident of winning the Gutu East Parliamentary seat, we are going to work together as usual with the community and in terms of mobilisation we are ahead as usual,” ZANU PF Masvingo Provincial chairperson, Cde Robson Mavhenyengwa said.

“Gutu East is among areas that benefitted under the devolution programme through the establishment of clinics, classroom blocks and bridges. However, the work continues and we are looking forward to continuing improving your road network, increasing community gardens and intensifying other agriculture programmes,” Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Ezra Chadzamira said

ZANU PF Gutu East candidate Cde Zvarevashe Masvingise is equally confident of victory.

“As the people of Gutu East, we appreciate what the party is doing in terms of supporting us. This has made my life easier as the party’s candidate because the groundnuts are already done, the developments implemented by President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his administration are a clear testimony of how the party and government are committed to improved livelihoods,” he said.

The Gutu East Parliamentary seat fell vacant after the expulsion of former legislator Cde Benjamin Ganyiwa.

The by-election will be held on June 14.
