PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has joined the world in mourning Pope Francis, who died this Monday morning at the age of 88.
The President posted on his X handle describing the Pope as a man of profound humility, who stood for peace, compassion, and justice.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the Catholic Church and Catholics around the world.
Pope Francis, who was also known as Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, was elected to lead the Catholic Church in March 2013 after Pope Benedict the 16th stood down.
The Pope has not been well since February this year and spent a lot of time hospitalised.
His entire life was dedicated to the service of the lord and his church.
His death comes a day after he appeared in St Peter’s Square to wish a happy Easter to thousands of worshippers.
