POLICE in Matabeleland South have launched a manhunt for a seven-member gang accused of fatally assaulting a fellow miner at Arizona Mine in Matobo on Wednesday.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over the sharing of proceeds from their mining activities.
According to police reports, a disagreement arose between the now-deceased, Braveman Nyathi (33), and his colleagues after they failed to agree on how to divide the money they had received from the mine owner.
Tensions escalated, leading the group to turn on Nyathi.
The suspects allegedly ganged up and brutally assaulted him before fleeing the scene.
Confirming the incident, Matabeleland South Acting Police Spokesperson, Stanford Mguni, urged the public to come forward with any information that could assist in locating the suspects.
Authorities have since intensified efforts to apprehend the perpetrators, with investigations ongoing.
