CHINESE Premier Li Qiang has outlined China’s ambitious targets for 2025, emphasising sustainable growth, social development, and environmental protection.
His remarks were delivered on Wednesday during the opening of the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress in Beijing.
In his address, Premier Li underscored China’s commitment to rebuilding trust and fostering enhanced cooperation within the economic sector.
He proposed five key areas for international collaboration, which include strengthening macroeconomic policy coordination, promoting global industrial specialisation and cooperation, and intensifying efforts in green development.
This forward-thinking agenda reflects China’s determination to lead in global sustainable growth while reinforcing its role in shaping the future of the global economy.
“We will work together to address global challenges, promote international cooperation, and build a community with a shared future for mankind,” Premier Li said.
The Premier outlined several key targets for 2025, including GDP Growth: A growth rate of around 5% is expected, with a focus on high-quality development and economic restructuring.
Unemployment Rate: The government aims to keep the unemployment rate at around 5.5%, with a focus on creating new urban jobs and promoting entrepreneurship.
Inflation: The consumer price index (CPI) is expected to rise by around 3%, with a focus on maintaining price stability and controlling inflation.
Energy Consumption: The government aims to reduce energy consumption per unit of GDP by around 3%, with a focus on promoting energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.
Grain Output: China’s grain output is expected to reach around 650 million tonnes, with a focus on ensuring food security and promoting sustainable agriculture.
Premier Li also reiterated China’s commitment to opening up and creating a favorable business environment while also emphasising the importance of attracting foreign investment, promoting trade, and fostering a market-oriented, law-based, and world-class business environment.
His speech outlined China’s vision for sustainable growth, social development, and environmental protection while also revealing that the country’s commitment to opening up and cooperation is expected to provide new opportunities for businesses and talents around the world.
