INDIA has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Zimbabwe, pledging to deepen cooperation in various sectors.
The Indian Ambassador to Zimbabwe His Excellency Bramha Kumar met with Speaker of National Assembly, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, at the Parliament Building in Mt Hampden this Tuesday, where deliberations included the geo-political positioning of the two countries.
“The Honourable speaker was happy that our bilateral relations are continuing. We have had good political contact under the South to South Cooperation, under none aligned movement and excellent relations between our leaders.
“India and Zimbabwe support each other at the United Nations and other multilateral forums as well. Now we are very happy that Zimbabwe has joined the international solar alliance which is one of the first alliances guided by one of the countries from the south,” said Ambassador Kumar.
It also emerged that issues of food security and increasing trade between India and Zimbabwe are being prioritised.
The two countries are exploring opportunities for further cooperation, including in areas such as renewable energy, digital technology and tourism.
