THE City Sports Centre in Harare has been set alight as six teams including Zimbabwe’s Basket Hounds chase glory in the Basketball Africa League qualifiers.
Basket Hounds had to dig deep on the first day this Wednesday, to down a resilient Brave Hearts from Malawi 72-62 in the BAL Group E East Division.
Tawanda Nemutambwe’s Hounds were pushed to the limit, after their lead was erased and had to come back from behind to snatch victory.
The Brave Hearts lived up to their moniker with a stunning turnaround, overcoming a 10-point deficit to take the lead in the third quarter, showcasing remarkable resilience and determination.
True to their name, the Hounds hunted down victory with relentless pursuit, led by veteran Everisto Pasipamire’s stellar performance.
The clutch fourth-quarter display secured a 72-62 win for Hounds in their opening BAL Elite 16 qualifier.
Earlier on Foxes of South Sudan thumped Botswana Defence Forces 76-67 while Matero Magic of Zambia shocked Costa do Sol of Mozambique 78-71 to cap off a fine day of basketball.
The action continues this Thursday with Foxes and Costa do Sol getting proceedings underway at 2pm before Matero Magic and Brave Hearts take to the court at 4:30pm.
Hounds face Botswana Defence Forces at 7pm to conclude the day’s action at the City Sports Centre.
