Zim & India look at upscaling bilateral relations

AN Indian business delegation is expected in the country with the hope of enhancing trade between the two countries.

India’s envoy to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Bramha Kumah paid a courtesy call on Vice President General (Rtd) Dr Constantino Chiwenga at his Munhumutapa Offices in Harare this Wednesday.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the diplomat revealed that focus is on enhancing ties between the two countries.

He also disclosed that an Indian business delegation will be in Zimbabwe soon to explore investments in areas that include pharmaceuticals, telecommunications and education among others.

“We have a delegation coming soon and they will engage their counterparts here so that we find areas of further cooperation,” he said.

He further stated that New Dehli is pleased with its diplomatic ties with Harare.

“We have deep ties and what we are now doing is consolidating those ties for growth.”

Political, diplomatic and trade ties between Zimbabwe and India have seen high level engagements in the fields of education, health, arts and culture, with bilateral ties growing over the years.
