VICE President Kembo Mohadi has paid condolences to the Mbedzi family following the death of liberation war hero, Cde Edson Mbedzi last week.
The Vice President went to the Mbedzi family home in Bulawayo this Friday, where he expressed deep sorrow and extended heartfelt sympathies to the family after the death of the liberation hero who was buried at Nkulumane Heroes Acre in Bulawayo last week.
“Cde Edson Mbedzi was a true patriot whose sacrifices will forever be remembered. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. We are grateful for his service to our country. Post-independence, he served in the army where he retired as a colonel and joined the government where he continued to serve the nation and he was passionate about empowering war veterans.”
The Mbedzi family expressed gratitude for the government’s support highlighting Cde Mbedzi’s unwavering dedication to the cause of freedom and his love for his country.
“We are deeply touched by the outpouring of love and respect for our father. He was a selfless man who dedicated his life to the service of his country. His sacrifice will never be forgotten. His dedication to the country was unwavering and we are honoured to be his family,” said Mr Albert Mbedzi, the family spokesperson.
Cde Mbedzi was declared a liberation war hero in recognition of his role during the struggle for independence and contribution in post-independence Zimbabwe.
