UK-Zim Business Expo, a boost for Zim is open for business mantra

Story by ZBC Reporter

Local and international investors are this October set to gather in the United Kingdom at the Bethel Convention Centre in Birmingham for the UK-Zimbabwe Business Expo to explore several investment opportunities available in the country.

The business event will take place on the 5th of October and is being organised by Zimbabweans in Diaspora Organisation (ZIDO) and Vaka Ekhaya.
The UK-Zim Business Expo is expected to bring together government officials, captains of industry and potential investors.

ZIDO chief executive Blessed Kapesa told ZBC News that the business expo provides a number of opportunities for businesspeople and acts as an interface between investors and government officials.

“As you know the government’s mantra is ‘Zimbabwe is Open for Business’, so this business expo will provide an opportunity for investors to get clarity on investment laws in the country at the same time getting to understand different sectors open for investment in the country,” Kapesa said.

With at least 5 000 people expected to take part at this expo, the event plays a crucial role towards marketing Zimbabwe’s rich investment opportunities.

Zimbabwe offers a number of business opportunities in various sectors such as mining and agriculture leveraging on its vast mineral resources and favourable climatic conditions.

The expo comes at a time when the government is also encouraging the diaspora community to invest back home and contribute to the country’s economic development.

“This event aims to recognise and celebrate the exceptional investments made by Zimbabweans and companies with diaspora interests, which have played a crucial role in transforming Zimbabwe into a thriving economy,” said Kapesa..

“Through extensive market research, it’s evident that Zimbabweans abroad are eager to explore investment opportunities in their home country. However, they often lack comprehensive information and guidance, leading some to fall victim to fraudulent schemes,’’ he added.

The UK-Zimbabwe Business Expo aims to bring together key stakeholders, including relevant government departments, under one roof and this will facilitate easier business dealings and ensure that the diaspora community can invest with confidence.
