THE 2024 Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) Community Assistance Week rolled into life this Monday with Kuwadzana 2 High School in Harare being the first to benefit from the ZDF charity works after receiving a school administration block.
The administration block was met with gratitude and enthusiasm.
“We want to thank the ZDF for this noble gesture and this will help us in our day-to-day learning,” said a student
“We want to thank the Zimbabwe Defence Forces members and the government for remembering us. This administration block will go a long way in improving the pass rate at this school,” said a teacher.
The government has commended the ZDF for its exemplary act of kindness, praising its dedication to national development.
The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Harare Metropolitan Province, Honourable Charles Tawengwa said, “May I once again express my most profound gratitude for the invaluable contribution by the Ministry of Defence and the parents to the growth and development of Harare Medical College and Province. It is a grand occasion that confirms our collective determination to achieve an upper middle-income status by 2030.”
“We will ensure that the administration block you have handed over today will be jealously guarded against any forms of vandalism. We will continue knocking on your door for assistance,” said the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Honourable Torerayi Moyo.
Handing over the administration block, the Minister of Defence Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, who was accompanied by Service Chiefs, ZDF members and government officials, said Zimbabweans have a responsibility to develop their country.
“The Zimbabwe Defence Forces Community Assistance Programme’s achievement serves as yet another reminder that when motivated by a shared purpose and vision, Zimbabweans are capable of mobilising resources to better their communities. This initiative has shown us what communities, organisations, and individuals can do when they work together in harmony.
“Our collaboration with communities and stakeholders in developmental projects is consistent with the President’s development philosophy of ‘Nyika novakwa nevene vayo/Ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi balo,’ which teaches us to accept full responsibility for our development in our respective communities. Every one of us has a role to play in the development of Zimbabwe,” she said.
A wide range of community-focused projects are in the pipeline, which will be handed over across the country in line with the Second Republic’s mantra of Leaving No One and No Place Behind.
