THE 2024 Premier Soccer League season kicks off this Saturday with the Castle Challenge Cup featuring Ngezi Platinum Stars and Chibuku Super Cup winners, Dynamos at Baobab Stadium in Mhondoro.
Ngezi Platinum won their first league title since joining the big boys in 2016 after a trailblazing season in which they wrestled the coveted trophy from FC Platinum who had won it four times in a row.
Dynamos won their first major trophy in nine years after beating Ngezi Platinum two-nil in the Chibuku Super Cup final.
Ngezi Platinum will be hoping to atone for the defeat in the Cup final and confirm their growing status as an emerging force in Zimbabwean football under the guidance of youthful coach Takesure Chiragwi who led them to league glory.
On the other hand, Dynamos will be gunning for nothing short of victory amid high hopes that they have assembled a squad strong enough to challenge for league honours after settling for third position last season.
Dynamos have not won the league title since 2014 when they were crowned champions for the fourth time in a row under Kalisto Pasuwa.
