ZANU PF First Secretary and President, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa says the people-centered projects carried out in the last five years, unity of purpose and hard work led to the revolutionary party’s victory in the recently-held general elections.

He said those entertaining thoughts of a re-run or government of national unity must move on.

With the elections done and dusted and ZANU PF back in power after emerging the victors, the ruling party held its first session of the central committee meeting this Saturday at the party’s headquarters in Harare.

President Mnangagwa said the people-centered projects carried out in the last five years and unity of purpose won them the trust of the electorate.

“The unity of purpose and hard work as well as people centered projects which we have implemented over the last five years have paid dividends. This is why the people put us back in government, said the President.

The elections were held in a peaceful manner and President Mnangagwa said this has put to shame the country’s detractors who had wished for violence and even bloodshed.

“We delivered a free and fair election. Together as a united people we shamed our detractors who had wished for violence and bloodshed. Zimbabwe is a sovereign nation and through these elections we have demonstrated that no amount of machinations will sway our people to sell our birth right,” he added.

For those entertaining thoughts of a government of national unity or rerun, President Mnangagwa said they must wake up from their delusions.

“The people have granted ZANU PF yet another mandate to govern our great motherland Zimbabwe. Entertaining any talk of a re-run is a pipeline dream. Those dreaming of a government of national unity or re-run must dream on. They must wake up from their delusions,” the President reiterated.

The ruling party’s first secretary applauded Mashonaland Central Province for a sterling performance in the general elections after they secured all seats.

“I applaud Mashonaland Province for its outstanding performance in the national elections. We will hold our first rally there as a way of thanking them.”

The meeting also held a moment of silence for all heroes and heroines who died since the holding of the last central committee meeting.
