ZIMBABWE’S efforts to strengthen justice delivery and national development goals were topical this Saturday as the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) unveiled newly trained officers equipped to drive rehabilitation, security reforms, and the country’s transformation agenda.

It was a day marked by precision and purpose. From the crisp snap of salutes to the rhythmic march of boots on the parade square, every sound here tells a story of discipline instilled, showcasing the rigorous commitment of these correctional service officers.

Among the 1195 correctional officers, Revive Makono was honoured with the overall best award for the two courses.

The atmosphere is one of immense pride, not just for the correctional officers but also for the entire service and the nation they are preparing to serve.

The Commissioner-General of the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services, Moses Chihobvu, said the new officers are ready to serve with professionalism, discipline, and innovation.

“We welcome our new officers, who embody the modern correctional ethos of rehabilitation, reform, and humanity in their service to our great nation. As ZPCS, we have embraced an entrepreneurial approach, and this has allowed us to modernise our system and contribute to national development,” he said.

The Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Honourable Ziyambi Ziyambi, emphasised the critical role played by the ZPCS in the government’s development agenda.

“In the Second Republic, we have intensified efforts to modernise our justice delivery system, strengthen the rule of law, and ensure that every Zimbabwean enjoys equal access to justice. As a Ministry, we are proud to align our programmes with your national development agenda. We are in the process of digitalising the justice delivery system.

“These initiatives demonstrate our shared determination to build smart, efficient, and humane justice institutions that resonate with your vision of a modern, prosperous Zimbabwe. Through the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS), we continue to enhance rehabilitation and reintegration programmes in line with your vision of building a just, peaceful, and productive society,” he noted.

As the officers leave the Ntabazinduna training depot, they carry with them the nation’s objectives for justice and peace. Their commitment to service is expected to contribute to the government’s vision of a prosperous and empowered Zimbabwe by 2030.
