A 42-year-old man from Zvishavane has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being convicted of armed robbery and impersonation.
Facts are that on the 10th of last month, Gabriel Nyerebani, in the company of his brother, Tinashe who is still at large, invaded three different mines where they robbed four people of US$190 at gunpoint, masquerading as police officers.
They, however, ran out of luck when one of the managers at the mine alerted the police.
Nyerebani was sentenced to nine years in jail for four counts of armed robbery and three years for impersonating a police officer.
Meanwhile, in another case, a man from Shurugwi, Alberto Gido will be back in court on the 25th of this month for continuation of trial over murder allegations.
Allegations are that on the 7th of this month at around 7 pm, Gido was drinking beer with the now deceased Shepherd Mwale at Zviumwa Business Centre in Shurugwi.
The court was told that during the beer-drinking spree, a misunderstanding ensued between the two leading to a fight.
It is alleged that with the help of one, Trymore Manhoro who is still at large, Gido stabbed the deceased in the stomach during the fight.
The duo allegedly fled the scene, leaving Mwale’s lifeless body
