THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has reaffirmed its commitment to improving efficiency and the quality of service delivery as part of broader efforts to enhance professionalism and operational effectiveness within the force.

The assurance was given on Friday by Commissioner-General of Police, Stephen Mutamba, during the launch of the ZRP Client Services Charter, marking a decade of the organisation’s focus on service excellence.

Addressing stakeholders, Commissioner-General Mutamba said the charter represents a renewed pledge to accountability, professionalism and community partnership in the fight against crime.

“The charter we are proclaiming today marks a decisive step. It is a call to unity to move beyond our gates and join a collective front against crime. Our shared security depends not only on individuals but also on everyone’s determination,” he said.

He emphasised that the charter sets clear standards for police conduct and public engagement.

“Through this covenant, we are making undertakings to service delivery. We promise professionalism, where the police officer you meet will not be defined by their uniform but by their integrity, respect and commitment to justice,” Commissioner-General Mutamba said.

He highlighted the adoption of technology as a key pillar in strengthening accountability and operational capacity within the force.

“Body-worn cameras have been introduced for police officers, bringing integrity out of the shadows and encouraging open, accountable and professional policing. The use of drones has also strengthened our operational capacity,” he said.

The Client Services Charter outlines service standards and expectations aimed at fostering public trust, improving responsiveness and reinforcing ethical conduct across the police service.
