ZPC Kariba edge Bulawayo Chiefs

Story by Lawrence Trusida, Sports Editor

ZPC Kariba continued with their fairly good start to the season after a one-nil victory over Bulawayo Chiefs at the National Sports Stadium this Monday.

Former Dynamos midfielder Kudzanai Dhemere scored the goal that made the difference as ZPC Kariba edged Bulawayo Chiefs one-nil at their adopted home ground to move up to four points.
Dhemere’s second-half goal was enough for ZPC Kariba to maintain their unbeaten run after escaping relegation by a whisker last season.

Match Day Two was punctuated by Harare giants Dynamos showing exactly what they are all about this season after thumping new boys Sheasham four-nil at the National Sports Stadium in a match watched by a decent crowd.

The excitement associated with the institution and its new brand of football has brought fans out of their shells to catch a glimpse of the new style.

The sizable number that was at the big facility on Sunday was not disappointing as Dynamos exhibited flair and class in their first home game of the season.

The new Dynamos technical department led by Hebert Maruwa promised to play entertaining football and so far, they have lived up to their promise and the fans have not been disappointed, prompting them to adopt the saying ‘Kakai Ngoma DeMbare Yadzoka.’
The excitement being created by the Harare giants has also been passed on to other fans as all of a sudden, the Nation Sports Stadium is starting to get decent crowds.

The first match of the season between defending champions FC Platinum and newly promoted Simba Bhora set the tone for what could be an exciting season.

Dynamos’ city rivals CAPS United also drew a sizable crowd in their match against Manica Diamonds, adding excitement and colour to the beautiful game.

Meanwhile, Match Day Three will kick off this Friday with Herentals hosting Manica Diamonds at the National Sports Stadium.

Saturday sees winless Simba Bhora taking on Dynamos at the same venue, while Sheasham host Yadah at Mandava Stadium.

Bulawayo Chiefs are up against Black Rhinos at Luveve stadium and Cranborne Bullets will be at Baobab stadium for a date against Chicken Inn.

Sunday will be headlined by the clash between giants Highlanders and defending champions FC Platinum at Barbourfields stadium, while CAPS United will be back at the National Sports Stadium for a date against ZPC Kariba.

League returnees Hwange battle Green Fuel at Luveve stadium, with Triangle are up against Ngezi Platinum Stars at Gibbo stadium.
