ZIMBABWEAN schools are cementing their influence on the continental stage after delivering a commanding performance at the Pan-African Championships held on December 3 in Nairobi, Kenya.

The competition brought together top learners from across the continent who battled for honours in debate, public speaking and moot court.

Among the standout achievers was Ruvimbo Faith Mundeta of Samuel Centenary Academy, who was crowned Public Speaking Champion after outclassing contestants from Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria and several other countries, following a series of intense elimination rounds.

“I participated in the public speaking category and by God’s grace, I came out as the winner. It was eye-opening to meet people from across Africa. The biggest lesson for me was to always be prepared no matter how many times you fall, you must rise again,” she said.

Zimbabwe also claimed top honours in moot court and debate, with participating schools demonstrating exceptional reasoning and analytical skills despite stiff continental competition.

Teachers believe the achievement places learners on a higher path of excellence and exposure.

“Our students outshone in every area. We won trophies across the board, and our public speaking participant was the best in the region. Despite the stiff competition, everyone was given a fair chance, and Zimbabwe came out strong,” noted teacher, Ms Yvonne Matunya.

This progress within the education sector marks yet another milestone, signalling growing academic confidence, cultural appreciation and global competitiveness among Zimbabwean learners.
