FORMER professional rugby player, Tapuwa Chabata has concluded his participation in the attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest rugby match, held at Mullingar RFC in Ireland.
The 53-year-old former Sables player clocked around 30 hours but the official time is still yet to be made public by Guinness.
The current Guinness World Record for rugby marathons stands at 30 hours, 29 minutes and 41 seconds.
Chabata together with 92 others are using the challenge to raise funds for three charity organisations in Ireland.
Born in Mount Darwin, Chabata, who was once an Army officer, started playing rugby while at Chaplin High School in Gweru and later became the first Captain of the Zimbabwe Universities and Colleges.
