THE Zimbabwe volleyball senior men’s team is determined to put up a show when they clash with neighbours Zambia in international friendlies at Sunrise Sports Club in Harare on September 6 and September 7.
Dubbed the Battle of the Zambezi, the matches are aimed at raising funds for the U20 team that is set to compete in the continental Youth Championships in Egypt.
The two countries will battle it out in both the men’s and women’s categories, while the U20 team will make it a tri-series for the men.
With Zimbabwe having missed the Zone Six games, which have been postponed for years, the home team is happy with the battle of the Zambezi as atonement.
“We are happy with this competition, we know how strong Zambia is and we know we have not had game time. These matches now give us good game time as well as raise funds for the youngsters to go and compete,” Zimbabwe Volleyball coach, Itsanang Abu Basutu said.
The competitions will start early this Saturday, while the final is set for Sunday at Sunrise Sports Club.
