ZIMBABWEAN triple jumper Chengetayi Mapaya has qualified for the World Indoor Championships after producing a world-leading jump for the 2026 season at the Oklahoma University Classic in the United States.
Mapaya opened his indoor campaign with a leap of 16.85 metres, the longest jump recorded globally so far this season, placing him at the top of the world rankings.
The performance secured him automatic qualification for the World Indoor Championships, set for March 20 to 22 in Poland.
Mapaya said the early-season form has strengthened his confidence as he sets his sights on a podium finish, following a seventh-place result at last year’s World Athletics Championships.
