Zimbabwe taps into world class universities’ technology

ZIMBABWE continues to make inroads in its quest to make use of modern technology to propel the country towards an upper middle income society by 2030 through collaborating with world class universities.

With the country’s potential to become an economic giant lying in the abundance of its natural resources, tapping into the modern technology has been cited as key.

As such, youths attending the World Youth festival in Sirius are optimistic about leveraging their country’s strong relationship with Russia to achieve vision 2030.

“The major take aways from this festival so far is on the technology side where we need to take advantage of our good relations with Russia to be capacitated so that we can fully develop our country,” said a participant.

“I now have a new view of life. I think education without production is not that good, but collaboration with big countries like this in terms skills development will help us,” said another.

The Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Professor Amon Murwira, highlighted government’s active pursuit of partnerships with universities to access modern technology.

He encouraged young people to seize these opportunities and contribute to national transformation, “We have made various collaborations with Russian universities so that we harness the technology, which will propel the President’s vision, now it’s the time that the youths grasp these opportunities so that the can help in the transformation of our country.”

Director of the Russian-African Network University, Dr Maxim Zalyvsky reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Zimbabwe’s educational transformation

“We have good relations with Zimbabwe and we have been helping students in the engineering sectors and geo-physics and other science fields so that they can make use of their resources,” he noted.

More than 20 000 youths from across the globe are attending the international youth festival in Sirius, Russia which will run until the 7TH of March
