ZIMBABWE and Sudan are advancing efforts to conclude a series of Memoranda of Understanding covering economic cooperation, political consultations and justice sector collaboration, as the two countries deepen bilateral engagement.

The developments emerged during a meeting between Sudan’s envoy to Zimbabwe, Ambassador Ibrahim El Sheikh Abdelrazig Ahmed, and Speaker of the National Assembly, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, held in Harare this Tuesday.

Discussions centred on broadening cooperation frameworks and translating long-standing diplomatic ties into structured agreements across multiple sectors.

Ambassador Ahmed outlined progress towards formalising the arrangements, noting that groundwork is already underway.

“We discussed bilateral relations between our countries, and actually, it is a historical and robust relationship, and he is ready to visit Sudan, and he is ready to cooperate with us in establishing our new parliament. Also, I briefed him about the ongoing efforts to sign some memorandums of understanding in many aspects, like economic, political consultations, justice, and that is soon, inshallah, to be signed, some of them, because we are working now with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and international trade to get it prepared for signing,” he said.

The planned agreements are expected to cover strategic areas including investment, trade, education, health and mining, as both nations seek to convert diplomatic goodwill into tangible economic and institutional partnerships.
