Zimbabwe joins elite group as ZIFA rolls out FIFA CIES sports management course

Story by Lawrence Trusida, Sports Editor

THE Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has launched the FIFA International Programme in Sports Management in partnership with the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) and Midlands State University, in a move aimed at strengthening professionalism and institutional capacity in sports administration across the country.

The one-year programme seeks to equip sports administrators, managers and practitioners with modern governance and management skills aligned with global best practice.

The FIFA CIES International Programme in Sports Management is multi-sport in scope and covers key disciplines including sports law, communication, marketing, sponsorship, finance and event management.

Only 21 institutions worldwide are accredited to offer the programme, placing Zimbabwe among a select group of countries delivering the internationally recognised qualification.

The initiative is expected to contribute to improved governance structures, enhanced commercialisation of sport and better management of sporting organisations at both national and grassroots levels.
