MORE than 60 000 healthcare workers under the Health Ambassadors for Economic Development have endorsed the Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill, describing it as development-focused and key to sustaining national progress.
The endorsement reflects growing support for the Bill, with workers from across all ten provinces signing a petition that has since been submitted to Parliament of Zimbabwe.
Speaking at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital, Provincial Coordinator Mr Noah Tsvaka said healthcare professionals view the proposed legislation as progressive and aligned with national development goals.
“We are unequivocally behind the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his Vision 2030. As healthcare workers, we believe this Bill will enhance national development and stability. The proposed extension of the electoral cycle could ease pressure on national resources, allowing more funding to be directed towards critical sectors such as health,” he said.
Healthcare workers also acknowledged ongoing government efforts to improve their conditions of service, while expressing confidence in continued engagement.
“We believe in dialogue. Our leaders are engaging Government to improve our welfare, but in the meantime, we remain committed to delivering on our mandate,” a health worker said.
“This Bill ensures continuity in leadership and programmes already transforming lives. We want to see these initiatives reach full implementation,” another health employee said.
The endorsement follows the conclusion of nationwide public consultations by Parliament of Zimbabwe, with Mashonaland West Province reportedly recording strong support across all seven districts.
