ZIMBABWE Cricket (ZC) has engaged West Indies fast-bowling legend Courtney Walsh as bowling consultant for the senior men’s national team ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from 7 February to 8 March.

Walsh has already begun working with the squad as the Chevrons intensify preparations for the global showpiece, where they have been drawn in Group B alongside Australia, Ireland, Oman and hosts Sri Lanka.

Regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers in cricket history, Walsh represented the West Indies from 1984 to 2001, claiming 519 wickets in 132 Test matches and becoming the first bowler to reach the 500-wicket milestone in the format.

Since retiring from international cricket, the Jamaican has built an extensive coaching résumé, including stints as head coach of the West Indies women’s team and as a specialist bowling coach for Bangladesh.

Zimbabwe will open their World Cup campaign against Oman at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground on 9 February, before facing Australia at the R. Premadasa Stadium on 13 February.

They will then travel to Kandy to take on Ireland at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on 17 February, before returning to Colombo to conclude the group-stage fixtures against Sri Lanka on 19 February.

The top two teams from Group B will advance to the Super Eight stage.
