ZIMBABWE has intensified efforts to modernise its sports sector through enhanced cooperation with Belarus, as Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture Minister, Lieutenant General (Retired) Ambassador Anselem Sanyatwe, toured the Republican Scientific and Practical Centre of Sports in Minsk.

The visit reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation and exchange knowledge in sports development, training, and administration between the two countries.

The Minister toured the high-performance facility where sport, medicine and science are integrated to enhance athlete development and performance.

During the visit, Minister Sanyatwe witnessed how Belarus uses advanced diagnostics, medical screenings, and technology-driven training programmes to monitor athletes and improve results.

The centre also uses modern recovery systems, including cryotherapy and rehabilitation technology, aimed at reducing injuries and prolonging athletes’ careers.

Zimbabwe is now seeking to tap into Belarusian expertise through knowledge exchange programmes targeting coaches, sports doctors, physiologists and analysts.
