ZIMBABWE made a notable impression at the 38th Surajkund International Craft Mela, held from February 7, emerging as one of the most admired exhibits.
The event concluded on a high note, with Zimbabwe receiving two prestigious awards and being ranked as the third-best display among over 58 participating countries.
“We are so excited for scooping awards here. We won the third price best foreign stall and, one of our crafts won best in crafts. We thank the government of Zimbabwe for this opportunity,” Principal officer for the Ministry of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Ian Nyamundanda said.
“Zimbabwe has been participating here at the mela for some years because of the MOU we signed with India. We are happy that our country keeps making a mark here,” the Head of the Consular Embassy of Zimbabwe in India Mr Peter Hobwani said.
Zimbabwean crafts and dances stood out throughout the fete and ranked among the most culturally diverse stands.
“People here have liked Zimbabwe a lot, from the stand to the dance. I think it is one of the countries that brought unique staff and we thank Zimbabwe for participating in this cultural exchange,” Haryana Tourism Corporation Managing Director, Dr Sunil Kumar added.
The festival was a hive of activity with Zimbabwe showcasing various traditional dances and crafts from Manicaland province.
