Zim secure second win at Celtic Cup as Gems beat Namibia

Story by Lawrence Trusida, Sports Editor

ZIMBABWE beat Namibia 49-39 at the ongoing Celtic Cup in Glasgow on Friday to secure their second win in three matches.

The Gems led from the outset, maintaining control through accurate shooting from Nalani Makunde, while Kelly Muyambo, who was voted player of the match, was rock solid in defence.

Namibia stayed in touch early on, but Zimbabwe’s intercepts and cleaner transitions in the mid-court created a decisive gap in the second half.

The result keeps Zimbabwe firmly in contention as the tournament enters its final stages.

Zimbabwe next face regional powerhouses Uganda this Saturday.
