A Zimbabwe delegation in the United Kingdom has held tourism roadshows in Manchester and Birmingham to showcase the country’s tourism potential ahead of this year’s edition of the World Travel Market in London.

Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Honourable Barbra Rwodzi is hopeful this year’s edition of the World Travel Market is yet another grand opportunity to showcase Zimbabwe’s tourism offerings and help redirect increased global tourist flow to the country towards post-COVID-19 tourism recovery efforts.

Minister Rwodzi led various road shows on Day One of the World Travel Market to connect local tour operators with the global market.

“The roadshows mobilised a lot of players from the industry based here and in Zimbabwe to create lasting strategic alliances that promote our local industry back home. We have set targets to continue to grow the UK as a traditional tourism source market,” she said.

Local hospitality chains are also attending the tourism extravaganza to showcase their products.

“African Sun is seeking collaborations with other world operators here in London to create sustainable relationships with other renowned tour operators to grow our own local industry,” said an African Sun representative.

“The RTG group has over the years invested in improving its hotels to match global standards and this presents opportunities for us to showcase these developments,” said an RTG group representative.

The UK is Zimbabwe’s second largest tourism market and the government is refocusing its efforts to showcase the country’s tourism offerings by building relationships under the engagement and re-engagement thrust.
