ZIMBABWE and Algeria are set to deepen their bilateral relations, with renewed focus on enhancing cooperation in politics, trade, and economic development under the framework of the Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation (JPCC).
This comes after a meeting between Algeria’s State Secretary for African Affairs, Honourable Selma Bakhta Mansouri, and Zimbabwe’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Professor Amon Murwira, in Harare.
Honourable Mansouri expressed satisfaction with the current state of bilateral ties, describing them as historically rooted and strategically significant.
“This visit was an occasion for me to discuss with the Honourable Minister the very good status of our bilateral relationship,” Honourable S Mansouri said.
“Algeria and Zimbabwe have a very common historical relationship rooted in a common struggle against colonialism and the struggle and fight for liberation. I was really happy to meet with the Minister and to have an update on our bilateral relationship, both in the political, economic and other areas.
“We discussed ways and means to further strengthen this important relationship, including through holding the upcoming joint bilateral commissions, which will embrace other areas of cooperation.”
Zimbabwe and Algeria enjoy cordial relations, built on their shared historical bond of struggling for liberation.
The two countries have established ties in key sectors such as education and agriculture, fostering cooperation and mutual understanding.
