THE newly established Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA)’s Global and Diaspora Committee is ready to court footballers plying their trade outside the country to come back and represent Zimbabwe.

Elections are done and dusted and the induction of newly established ZIFA committees has set the tone for execution of a new vision.

With hands on deck, the Global and Diaspora Committee is ready for the challenge to bring the global flair to the national team.

Chairperson of the committee, Marshal Gore, believes they are ready to woe players with Zimbabwean birth to don the national colours.

“We had our inductions as a committee, first I would like to thank the executive for inviting me to take up the challenge and the journey to improve our local football. Ours is a continuation of what we have been doing. We have a huge database of players in the UK and we want to convince them to come and represent the country,” Gore said.

The committee said it is seized with organising a talent scouting mission for national team coaches in the United Kingdom.

“We want to go beyond wooing these players but also to encourage the business community to plough back in the different sectors of the economy. We will organise a trip for the technical team to come to the UK and have a follow-up on the players on that side. We want to create partnerships with academies which will see us benefitting as a country in football,” Gore said.

Previous such missions managed to convince players like Tawanda Maswanhise and Tawanda Chirewa, among other names, to play for the Zimbabwean national team.
