ZCPD advocates for support to people with disabilities

Story by Tafara Chikumira

ZIMBABWE Coalition for Peace and Development (ZCPD) Presidential hopeful Trust Chikohora took his campaign bid to his hometown of Gweru this Friday where he interacted with people with disabilities.

ZCPD leader Mr Trust Chikohora this Friday met people with disabilities in Gweru where the focus was on coming up with policies that address their concerns.

The ZCPD leader also took the opportunity to present some essentials and foodstuffs to the vulnerable group.

“We have targeted the people with disabilities so that we put their plight on the spotlight. We are saying they are a group which should never be neglected. We aim to say the state, NGOs and individuals should do more to help their plight. We hope our gesture will do more in bringing focus to people with disabilities.

“We are here to brighten their lives and make things better for them. They are a special group which should be included in critical positions so that their plight is addressed at a policy level. Yes, the disability policy is there but nothing much has been done in terms of implementation.”

Beneficiaries applauded the Presidential hopeful for his kind gesture.

Mr Chikohora whose ZCPD party did not field any local authority and parliamentary candidates in general elections is on record saying if elected to office, he will form a coalition government to unite the nation.
