ZCC partners govt in expanding access to education in Hwange

AS the government accelerates the construction of primary and secondary schools in underserved areas, the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) has joined the effort in Hwange District.

The church is complementing national initiatives to improve access to quality education, with the support now extending to communities in Matabeleland North Province.

The church is constructing an International School which has boarding facilities and classes up to Upper Six in the Chidobe area, outside Victoria Falls.

“This school is a game changer, it will bring education to our community. We thank the Zion Church,” a traditional leader said.

“During construction and even when completed, the school will bring employment to this community,” a community member said.

“We have no boarding school in this area, nor do we have a boarding school. So this is new to us, and we are thankful,” a parent said.

The school, situated on 56 hectares, will open its doors for Form One learners in 2026.

“In the first phase of the project, we are targeting to invest over US$1 million. We will start construction of about six classroom blocks to accommodate form one in 2026. We also build teachers’ cottages and other key infrastructure,” Project Manager, Mr Hubert Mutendi said.

The project is a high priority for the church.

“We are starting work here in Hwange, and we need to work like termites to complete this school. Let us all work together to complete this school immediately. Ending halfway is not an option, we should not be lazy but continue to work hard to complete the task,” Bishop ZCC, Nehemiah Mutendi said.

Anna-Sakina International School is fulfilling the mantra of leaving no one and no place behind, increasing the church’s presence countrywide.
